The two PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP partners who head the firm’s Oscar-balloting efforts have been barred from handling the awards in the future, the motion picture academy and the accounting firm both said Wednesday.

The partners, Brian Cullinan and Martha Ruiz, “have been removed from our account,” said a spokeswoman for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
